audience 英[ˈɔ:diəns] 美[ˈɔdiəns]，基本意思是“观众；听众；读者”，作名词使用。它是一个集合名词，大多以单数形式出现，既可以表示单数意义，也可以表示复数意义。作为整体用做主语，谓语单数；考虑集体中的成员时，谓语用复数。audience有复数形式audiences，是可数名词，用的比较少。
