1. Which relative did you most often see when you were a child?

误区:注意试试能不能把‘when I was a child’换掉,比如换成‘in my childhood’或者‘when I was a kid’,甚至可以直接说‘when I was 5 or 6’.

in my childhood 在我同年时期

come round my house

stay over 过夜

hang out 一起玩

all the time 一直

Well, I guess it’s got to be my cousin Jia. In fact, she’s just one year older, so we used to hang out all the time. I remember she used to come round and stay over on most weekends. One of our favourite things was having loads of tea parties and exchanging scary stories with her at night. Those were the days. I really miss that.

2. Who do you think is the most important member in your family?

can’t go without…

Well, I don’t really know whom to choose, but perhaps I would say my dad is the one since he is the bread winner, you know, he’s always out there running around making money for us. In other words, I don’t think we can go without him.

3. Who do you like to go shopping with?

skint = broke 没钱了

run out of 花光了

grocery shopping 买菜

pay for everything 全部买单

范例:

Well, it depends. I mean most of the time I would prefer to go to the clothing store myself. You know, I would be able to take my time trying out every single piece in the fitting room. But if it’s towards the end of the month, you know, when I’m running out of my spending money, I would always want to do at least my grocery shopping with my mom, just so she can pay for everything.

Describe a song that means something special to you.

You should say

what the song is called

when you listened to it

where you listened to it

and explain why you this song means something special to you.

雅思口语话题work or study(雅思口语话题我不了解)

因为题目说的是a song that means special to you.并不是a special song that means something special to you.

第一句what the song is called.

第二句when you listened to it. It was many years ago when I was a junior high school student. At 6 a.m. of every morning, our school would play the song on radio.

第三句where you listened to it. I didn’t know who got up even earlier than us and the person played the song very loudly, so no matter where we went on campus, we could listen to it clearly.

第四句也是最重要的一句 explain why this song means something special to you.

Well, for a song that means something special to me, I would like to say ‘dongfanghong’. It is a red song which praises our great leader ‘Mao Zedong’, a very slow song. I remember it was 4 years ago and I was in junior high school. Every morning when the sun rose, our school broadcasting station would play this song. So it was like morning call or alarm. When I listened to the song, I would be awake and do washing. I didn’t feel sleepy when the song ended. Then I ran to classroom from my dorm and started my busy studying of the day. So did my roommates. At the beginning when the song was first played in our school, I felt extremely annoyed because nobody called me to wake up so early. What was worse, this song was fairly old and my grandparents used to listen to it many years ago. Actually it didn’t give any enjoyment as music. However, this song accompanied me for a whole year during which I had to throw myself into studying in order to attend a good senior high school. This is quite normal for Chinese students and we need to work hard to stand out. So the song was just like my partner at that time. Now I seldom listen to ‘dongfanghong’. But once I meet it, the time when I studied hard at the last year of junior high school will appear in my mind. It was a special memory, busy, unforgettable and a little sense of achievement. That’s why I think this song means something different to me.

Describe an unusual building you’ve visited

You should say:

where it is

what it is used for

what it looks like

and explain why you think it is unusual

Describe a modern building

Describe a historic building

TV tower

2.小蛮腰:slender waist

3.观光:sightseeing

4.地点:venue

Here I would like to talk about the Canton Tower in Guangzhou, which is one of the local landmarks and famous for its unique design and architecture. I’ve been there for several times and I will recommend it to every visitor to this city.

The Canton Tower is actually an astronomical and sightseeing tower designed by Dutch architects, located on Haixinsha Island, which was originally the venue for the 2010 Asian Games. It made its name and be known of the whole Asia because of its unusual and special structure shown in the opening and closing ceremony of the Asian Games on TV. Locals give it a nickname as “the slender waist” because of its twisted structure. Its exterior form is generated by two ellipses, one at foundation level and the other one at top. These two ellipses are rotated relative to another, and the tightening caused by the rotation between the two ellipses forms a "waist"; so I think that’s the reason why it has such a vivid local name.

I’ve visited the interior of the tower, which is pretty amazing as well. Inside, it is subdivided into different zones with various functions, including TV and radio transmission facilities, you know, as it is supposed to be, and observatory decks for you to admire the view of the whole city, the revolving restaurant, which I heard is pretty classy but I failed to try last time, horizontal ferris wheel, recommended as the best venue for proposal in the city, exhibition spaces, shops, and 4D cinemas etc. So you can say, it is a multi-functional place for our local people. And the most important thing is, you could enjoy wonderful landscape there! Therefore, I really think this unusual architecture is a good way for you to hang out with friends and appreciate the great beauty of the city.
